The Diversify TV Excellence Awards were created in order to recognise, champion and celebrate diversity, equality and inclusion in television programming from around the world.

The inaugural Diversify TV Excellence Awards were held in October 2017 in Cannes, France. The awards have continued to be held annually, shining a spotlight on diverse programming from around the world.

Some notable successes include 2017 winner, Belgian drama Team Chocolat, being remade for Italian broadcaster Rai Uno and now in active development for a German version with broadcaster ZDF. Also, First Day which was originally commissioned as a standalone episode to celebrate the 2017 International Day of the Girl won in 2018 and has now been commissioned as a 4 episode series.
