Whilst reporting on a racially aggravated hit-and-run attack, a bbc reporter quoted the words that were shouted at the victim, which included the N-word. The victims family apparently supported the broadcast and the BBC has refused to apologise. It’s important to note that this news report was broadcast in the morning where children are likely to have been listening. Former BBC exec Marcus Ryder provides a clear explanation in his blogpost why the BBC got his wrong. This matter is not likely to go away quickly and I (Nick) find it frustrating that this furore is taking the attention away from a sickening racist attack.
